Who we are and what we do

Cutting Edge Mowers is a highly rated family business based with over 40 years experience with lawn mowers based in Nottingham beside the M1 J26. We provide repairs, servicing, restoration and expert advice for domestic and mid sized commercial lawnmowers. We are specialists in servicing and sharpening cylinder mowers, especially the British made brands. We provide a special cutting cylinder sharpening service to give a “scissor edge” to the knives which prolongs the time between the future resharpening of the cylinder while giving an excellent cut of the grass. We also sharpen hand and powered garden tools including hedge trimmers, shears, and secateurs etc working with a sharpening specialist "saw doctor".

As professional engineers and mower enthusiasts, we treat each machine with special care and attention. Any work needed or requested is carried out with passion and diligence and we also happily impart our expertise to our clients with the aim of helping them keep their own lawns and lawnmowers in excellent condition. Our workshop is located between Nottingham City and the M1. This convenient location means we can arrange collection and return to many areas around Nottingham and Derby and further away by special arrangement.

Timescale for servicing and repair

The time the work takes varies, with our target for servicing and sharpening of rotary mowers being 2-3 weeks, with the sharpening of cylinder mowers being 3 -4 weeks. Many machines can be finished sooner. The COVID19 pandemic and BREXIT have caused severe disruptions in the availability of spare parts which still impacts us now, and cause considerable delays. We have increased our stock of spare parts in an attempt to minimise this. We will try to keep you informed about your mower as the work progresses preferably by email, when we become aware of delays arising. In the case of a faulty machine, we ask for a fee to diagnose the solution of the faults and provide you with an estimated cost for their remedy and, if possible, give a timescale. The fee goes towards the cost of the work when undertaken.

An apology to note

We apologise for the inconvenience cuased by the disruptionof our telephone and email contact. Our services have been disrupted following the hijacking of our landline phones and internet by B T. Despite of this setback, we are determined to not to be defeated and re-establish our Services. Jobs are accepted preferably by appointment through our website, email messaging methods and by phone. Meanwhile we have also learnt that some internet browsers invent problems with our website which we are investigating.
